::: SONY HDCAM SR

HDCAM SR - Ultimate HD performance for the most demanding users.

The HDCAM SR product line represents the world's first full bandwidth 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 HD recorders. The HDCAM SR advanced chipset combined with the MPEG 4 Studio Profile compression scheme yields 440Mbps video payload to tape at 10 bits (linear or Log) along with 12 channels of uncompressed audio in both the SRW5000 and SRW5500 studio recorders. The SRW1/SRPC1 field acquisition system records 440Mbps SQ mode, and 880Mbps HQ mode, also with 12 channels of audio. HDCAM SR technology offers unparalleled quality and flexibility for all HD acquisition, mastering, and archiving applications.

::: SRW-5000

The SRW-5000 is a full-bandwidth high definition VTR, capable of recording the gamut of HD frame/line rates in both 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 formats. By incorporating high-density recording technology, and the ISO-recognized MPEG-4 Studio Profile compression algorithm, the SRW-5000 records a 440 Mbps video payload, at 10-bit depth, at a very mild 2.7:1 compression ratio for 4:2:2 signals and only 4:1 compression ratio for 4:4:4. It can also record 12 channels of audio at 24-bit per sample resolution, and can play back HDCAM tapes. It records a 1080-line input signal at 23.98, 25, 25, 29.97 and 30 frames/second in Progressive Segmented Frame format, and at 50 and 59.94 field/second, in Interlace format. It also records 720P at 59.94. The SRW-5000 is capable of recording 1920x1080 log video information at 10-bit, as well. The optional HKSR-5001 Format Converter Board allows a pull-down sequence to be inserted into a 23.98 or 24 fps tape output, and conversion of a 1080i tape to 720P, and vice versa. Through the use of an HKSR-5002 decoder board, the SRW-5000 can play back Digital Betacam tapes, and provide an up-converted HD output to both 720P/60 and 1080. The optional HKSR-5003 interface board allows for full bandwidth 4:4:4 RGB recording, via dual link HD SDI. RGB 4:4:4 recordings can be internally converted to 4:2:2 output via the HKSR 5001 format conversion board in real-time during record or playback.

Switchable between Sony's HDCAM and HDCAM SR record formats, this new VTR provides an ideal solution for professionals requiring multi-format flexibility. With the additional ability to simultaneously produce HD and SD output, as well as playback and up-convert Digital Betacam recording, the SRW-5500 can rightfully be considered a technology bridge to the future. Capable of recording 23.98/24/25/29.97/ 30PsF, 1080/50i/59.94/60i, and 720/59.94P, the SRW-5500 was created to meet all common worldwide delivery requirements. The HDCAM SR format is capable of recording the gamut of HD frame/line rates in both 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 formats using the highly efficient MPEG-4 Studio Profile compression scheme. The SRW-5500 records HDCAM SR format video at 440 Mbps, 10 bit Log or linear, at 2.7:1 compression ratio in 4:2:2, and 4.2:1 compression ratio for 4:4:4. It can also record 12 channels of audio at 24-bit per sample resolution. HDCAM format recording offers the standard 4 channels of uncompressed audio. The optional HKSR-5001 Format Converter provides 3/2 pull down sequence for conversion of 23.98 or 24 fps recordings to 59.94 interlaced output. It also provides conversion of 1080 to 720/59.94P, and 720P to 1080. With the optional HKSR-5002 Digital Betacam decoder board, Digital Betacam tapes can be played back and up converted to either 1080i or 720/59.94P formats. The optional HKSR-5003 interface board allows for full bandwidth 4:4:4 RGB recording, via dual link HD SDI. RGB 4:4:4 recordings can be internally converted to 4:2:2 output via the HKSR 5001 format conversion board in real-time during record or playback.

::: SRW-5800

Sony HDCAM-SR VTRs - the RGB 4:4:4 full-bandwidth high-definition VTRs at the top of the Sony HD VTR lineup - have been well received, especially in movie-making, commercial productions, and high-end television production applications, due to their unprecedented picture quality and system functionalities. As HD-based programme origination has become more commonplace, demand has steadily escalated for increased levels of quality criteria: even more video bit rates, higher frame rates, and greater format flexibility. Reflecting these new criteria, Sony has announced a new HDCAM-SR studio recorder, the SRW-5800, capable of recording at an amazingly high video bit rate of 880 Mb/s. The new SRW-5800 HDCAM-SR Studio Recorder is equipped with the same key features as the SRW-5500 and SRW-5000 recorders in the series, but exclusively provides the outstanding capability of 1080/60P and 50P recording through the use of 880 Mb/s data rate. The 1080/60P and 50P recording system is equally ideal for origination of progressive-based programmes, 720P programmes, and high-quality slow-motion programmes.
With the support of an extensive range of signal formats, including 1080/60P and 50P, plus outstanding system versatility and reliability, the SRW-5800 HDCAM-SR Studio Recorder should be the universal choice for high-end content creation today and in the future.

::: SRW-1

The SRW-1 HD Portable Digital Video Recorder and SRPC-1 HD Video Processor are the newest members of the CineAlta product lineup and form the first Sony full-bandwidth 4:4:4 (RGB) portable VTR system adopting the HDCAM-SR format. The SRW-1/SRPC-1 offers virtually lossless 1080-line high-definition recordings at multiple frame rates on the HDCAM-SR tape media. The SRW-1/SRPC-1 connects to its companion HDCF950 portable camera via HD-SDI dual link or optional optical fiber cable to create a convenient, portable full-bandwidth 4:4:4 (RGB) image capturing system. The SRW-1 can also be configured with the HDWF900 HDCAM camcorder to record HD 4:2:2 component images. The SRPC-1 processor unit provides a variety of video-processing functions and houses an array of input and output connectors, including HD/SD signals, 12 channels of digital audio, and 4 channels of analog audio. The processing functions include 2-3 pull-down insertions for 525 down conversion, and RGB 4:4:4 to Y/Pb/Pr 4:2:2 color space conversion. The system is capable of operating in three recording modes. SQ (standard Quality) providing 440 Mbps video payload to tape in both 4:4:4 or 4:2:2, HQ (High Quality) mode allowing for 2x speed recording yielding 880 Mbps to tape with a 2:1 compression ratio in full band RGB 4:4:4, and 3D mode where two separate 4:2:2 HD SDI inputs can be recorded simultaneously to the same tape, providing an efficient means of recording stereo full bandwidth 4:2:2 images for 3D productions. Each stereo channel is recorded at 440 Mbps with the benefits of full error correction to both channels.
